Hammersmith Flyover to "Flyunder"
![]() |
| Source: West London Link Design |
A "flyunder" will involve an extended tunnel being built passed the end of the current flyover, thus freeing up a large tract of land in West London for redevelopment; plus the further benefit of removing the busy A4 as a barrier between Hammersmith and the river.
However, there is a shorter option, which would put the entrance/exit for the tunnel nearer to North End Road, thus turning that area into a major London road junction, instead of passing the Lytton Estate by and emerging at Earls Court.
So we need to keep a close eye on developments, as the council's interim study, which will outline three alternative types of tunnel with different lengths, is due to published later this month.

Hidden Homes Work to Start at The Grange
Construction
work at The Grange, on the two Hidden Homes flats, is to commence
next week. H&F Repairs and Maintenance contractor Mitie will be
doing the works. Hoardings and site preparation will start on Monday,
3rd March,
with the main construction work starting on the following Monday,
10th March.
Mitie
will have a compound on the grass area in front of The Grange and
they will operate their site office from Flat 3 of the building. The
flat will also be used for drop in sessions where residents can raise
issues with the project manager; all drop-in sessions will be
notified by mail shots and on the notice boards of the block. Mitie
will shortly be writing to residents with further details of the
works and how they can be contacted.
For all
residents living in The Grange that currently occupy a shed, H&F
will write to you separately, outlining the decant and removal process of your belongings to the new sheds. In summary, all residents will be given one month’s
notice, of the date that you will be required to remove your
belongings from your current shed to your new one. At present, the
removal period has been scheduled from Friday
11 April to Sunday 20th
April. At this stage,
please can you make a note of this date and a further update will be
provided once the contractors have started on site. Should you
require assistance with moving your belongings,
the council will also be able to provide this.
It is
hoped the building work will be finished by August this year.
