Post from Friends of Marcus Garvey Park: Family Picnic Day, 21st June

www.facebook.com/MarcusGarveyParkCommunityGarden
The sun is shining and we're working hard to make our local park an amazing place to be on a sunny day.   We have more free activities over the next few weeks:

Picnic Day: Sunday 21st June, from midday until 4pm
Please bring your picnic & a rug and enjoy relaxing in the sunshine or making a smoothie on the smoothie bike, or a birdbox or crafty things in the woodland area.
Everyone is welcome, and it's free!
Plant Sale
We'll be selling plants for under £1 at our picnic day.   These plants are excellent quality and grown by young people in London, so your money is going to three great causes - raising money for the park, raising money for Cultivate Cultivate London, and helping our bees!
Mural
We have our final painting day for the playground mural on Sunday 14th June, from 2 pm - 6 pm.   Please come and help us to make the playground even more exciting!   No experience necessary, but please wear some old clothes as you will get paint on them
Park Benches
We're excited to have our lovely new benches in the park.   Please get in contact if you would like to donate a bench to the park, as we have space for a few more.
Donations:
If you would like to make a donation, please get in contact with us via email.   We don't receive any regular funding (and not a penny from the council), so donations are very welcome.  We're happy to accept donations of all sorts, so let us know what you have and we'll work out how we can use it.   We're currently looking for more flowering plants to fill up some of the gaps.

Get your free child flu vaccination this weekend

http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/Directory/News/Get_your_free_child_flu_vaccination_this_weekend.asp?dm_i=BGN,353QT,35CXUS,B9APB,1
A walk in flu vaccination clinic for children under five will take place this weekend.
The clinic, for children aged two to four, will take place at the The Bush Doctors, 16-17 West 12 Shopping Centre, from 9am until 11am on Saturday, January 31.
The vaccination is via a single dose squirted up each nostril, so no needles are involved and no appointment is necessary.
If you're not able to make it this weekend please read this advice and contact your own GP.
Vanessa Andreae, practice nurse at the Bush Doctors surgery and member of Hammersmith & Fulham Clinical Commissioning Group’s governing body, said: “We have arranged this walk in clinic for Saturday morning so that parents don’t need to take time off work or their children out of nursery to get them protected against flu.
“Flu can be very unpleasant for anyone who gets it, and children will have the same symptoms as adults, such as a fever, aching muscles, a sore throat and a dry cough.
“It can also cause serious complications among adults and children who are ‘at risk’, such as those with long term conditions, older people or pregnant women.
“The nasal spray flu vaccine will not only help protect your child from getting flu; it will also stop them spreading the disease to the rest of your family and their friends.
“It is quick and painless, and I would encourage all parents of children in this age range to have them vaccinated against flu.”
The flu jab is available free to adults in at-risk groups. Anyone in these groups who hasn’t already had their flu jab should speak to their GP as soon as possible to arrange an appointment.
