Assistance to Families and Individuals in Need

You don't have to be a British Gas customer to apply and in addition to clearing energy debt, BGET can also assist by providing grants to clear other priority household debts or purchase essential household items. These payments are called Further Assistance Payments.
Examples of what can be applied for include:

• Council Tax debts
• Telephone debts
• Essential household items e.g. beds
• Energy efficient white goods
• Boiler repairs/replacement
• Bankruptcy deposit/Debt Relief Order (DRO) fees
• Funeral expenses
• Other priority household debts e.g. debts to other utility suppliers.
